When I started building GrowthGati, my main goal was simple — to learn digital marketing by actually doing it. Instead of reading theory or watching endless videos, I decided to treat my own website as an SEO experiment.
This article documents what I learned while optimizing my homepage for SEO, what worked, what didn’t, and what I plan to improve next.
Why I Focused on Homepage SEO First
The homepage is usually the most important page of a website. It gets the most backlinks naturally, attracts first-time visitors, and sets the overall SEO direction of the site.
Instead of trying to rank for everything, I focused on one clear idea:
Learning digital marketing through real execution and experiments.
So my first task was to make sure the homepage clearly communicated:
- What GrowthGati is about
- Who it is for
- What kind of content users will find here
Changes I Made on the Homepage
The first thing I worked on was the heading structure. I used only one H1 tag with a clear message and supported it with H2 and H3 headings in the lower sections.
Next, I focused on content clarity. I removed unnecessary words and wrote simple sentences that explained the purpose of the website. Instead of keyword stuffing, I focused on intent — what a beginner in digital marketing would want to know.
I also improved internal linking by adding links to my Articles and About pages. This helps both users and search engines understand the structure of the site.
What Worked Well
The biggest improvement I noticed was in clarity. After simplifying the content, the homepage felt more focused and less confusing. Even without traffic data, it became obvious that the page was easier to understand.
Another positive outcome was better design consistency. Clean sections, readable text, and proper spacing made the site feel more trustworthy — which indirectly supports SEO.
What Didn’t Work (Yet)
I did not see instant ranking improvements, and that’s expected. SEO takes time, especially for a new website with no domain authority.
I also realized that without enough supporting articles, the homepage alone cannot do much. Content depth matters, and that’s something I’m actively working on.
What I’ll Improve Next
My next steps are:
- Publishing more SEO experiment articles
- Improving internal linking between posts
- Optimizing page speed and mobile experience
- Tracking performance using Google Search Console
Final Thoughts
This experiment taught me one important lesson — SEO is not about tricks. It’s about clarity, consistency, and patience.
GrowthGati is still in its early stage, but every change I make is a learning opportunity. I’ll continue documenting these experiments honestly so others can learn along with me.
